STEM Saturdays at Wellspring

This spring, Wellspring partnered with DAPCEP(Detroit Area Pre-College Engineering Program) to provide 8 STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) classes to K-12 Wellspring students through their POP-UP STEM Program. K-2 students learned about levers, launchers, fulcrums, force and motion when they built confetti launchers. Our 3rd-5th grades students had a chance to learn about Earthquake Engineering when they built straw towers that stood strong during our simulated earthquake. Middle school students delved into the world of chemistry in the Candy Chromatography class, and high school students learned how to find fingerprints when they studied forensic science. What a great series for our students. Lots of engineers in the making.
